Community Celebration at the Aviary

11/7/2016

On October 27th, Hartland Community 4 Youth & Families had our Community Celebration at the beautiful Tracy Aviary.  Families, friends, and our participants came out to explore the birds and other sites at the Aviary and to watch as we gave our awards and mementos to this season's participants.

A huge thank you to the Tracy Aviary for all of their support with this event and for donating use of the Aviary and the Chase Mill with us for our event and fundraising activities.  Thanks especially to Alfonso Lopez, their Cultural Liason, and to Tim Brown (Executive Director), and Logan Stefanoek (Rental Coordinator) for their generosity.
It has been a year of unprecedented growth for our organization and we've been thrilled with every bit of it.  We look forward to the next season!

Gilberto Rejón Magana was recently selected as a recipient of Molina Healthcare's Community Champion Awards. He and a few other community leaders were recognized at an event at the Cultural Celebration Center in West Valley City.

Here is what Molina Healthcare says about this award, "Molina Healthcare’s Community Champions Awards program was created in 2006 to honor the unsung heroes that work in our communities and inspire others through their selflessness, extraordinary service and contributions that positively affect the lives of those around them. The annual Community Champions event was established to honor the memory of Molina Healthcare’s physician founder, Dr. C. David Molina, who believed in community partners working together to create programs that would help care for individuals in our society who need a little extra help.
The awards ceremony brings together individuals whose civic and faith-based leadership, volunteerism as well as public advocacy embody Dr. Molina’s spirit of service, family and community. Winners each receive a Community Champions trophy and a $1,000 grant to designate to a nonprofit of their choice as a way to “pay it forward” in the community. These microgrants frequently enable local agencies to provide resources to serve those in need. These events usually draw several hundred organizations together to celebrate the champions who are being recognized as well as to showcase the great work of the nominating agencies and grant recipients."

Some of Gilberto's friends, family, and HC4YF board members came to celebrate this exciting occasion with him.
