Wild Skills

Hartland has again partnered with SheJumps to bring our Hartland Community kids up into the Wasatch Mountains for educational and empowering activities in our local wilderness.  Last winter it was for a day of Alpine skiing, this year we have a lot of activities lined up and we started with Wild Skills.
Wild Skills included a number of outdoor activities including basic first-aid, building a survival shelter, route-finding and orienteering with map and compass and a lot more.  The goal of course is much more than developing outdoor skills and learning about how to safely enjoy the outdoors, and includes building confidence and empowering people to live up to their full potential, as well as just having a great time in nature. Please see a description from shejumps.org about wild skills below.

This is taken directly from the wild skills description from getwildskills.org via shejumps.org :
SheJumps' Wild Skills youth events teach young girls the survival and technical skills they need for outdoor adventuring.

These skills can be applied in any season or region and include first aid, navigation, leave no trace, 10 essentials, shelter building and more. Our events encourage girls to learn new skills, take on challenges and think creatively which develops perseverance and fosters confidence.

Our goal is to see girls learning, having fun and connecting in an encouraging environment with amazing instruction and support from female mentors. We want Wild Skills to be an experience they will remember, one that will spark a lifetime of passion for the outdoors and will remind them that they are capable of anything.
